PHOSPHORUS (2018)
The audience arrives. There are chairs on stage, which are marked: Colombian actor, Palestinian actor, Romanian actor, Norwegian actor, German actor, Danish actor, Egyptian actor, Portuguese actor.
Phosphorus is a dance theatre performance, which is based on August Strindberg's diary Inferno, his play Road to Damascus, and interviews the cast and crew made. The main theme is the oblivious loneliness, how we have lost connection to other people and the cold world slowly surrounds us.
The performance includes independent separate scenes. We don't tell whole stories, just glimpses of people's lives.
The physical movements are based on Butoh Dance, contemporary dance, and the performers' own techniques. There is dialogue, but the main element is movement and stillness. Even though some of the themes are dark, the performance has lots of comedy.
